Prep students bring home awards from NJ Thespian Festival
Prep thespians earn second place in the state!

Prep students attend the virtual N.J. Thespians Festival.
Passaic Preparatory Academy students walked away with numerous awards at the 2021 New Jersey Thespian Festival, which was held virtually this year.
This year, the theatre department came away with seven superior awards, compared to last year when they came away with two. A superior award is the highest rating a student or program can receive and leads to an opportunity to perform at the International Thespian Society.
Theatre program leader Mr. Anderson was very excited as Prep reaped the rewards of hard work, especially overcoming the hardship of the current remote learning situation.
“We are incredibly proud of the work we achieved over Google Meet,” he said. “We believe this work can be a model for other arts performances in the district. This is our second year being recognized for our innovation in theatre.”
In Prep’s first year submitting in this category, the play Run. Hide. Fight. was rated the second-best production in the entire state of New Jersey! An incredible recognition and well-deserved for our hardworking and dedicated students.
Prep students also received Special Recognition for Ensemble, and Special Recognition for Innovative use of a Virtual Platform. In only two years as a theatre pathway, the Passaic Prep Theatre Department has shown us all the amount of talent the youth of Passaic holds.
