Passaic High freshman Samantha Vasquez has already made a mark on Passaic cross country!
On Nov. 1, the cross country team headed to the New Jersey State Championships, where Samantha made her varsity debut. The race brought fast competition and tough pacing, but Samantha finished 55th with a time of 24:46.0 over 5 kilometers (3.1 miles), closing out a season where she consistently placed top 10 and even top 5 in her freshman-level races.
I interviewed Samantha and her coaches to reflect on her freshman season, her growth, and her transition to varsity. With indoor and outdoor track ahead, her strong first year is only the beginning!
