It’s been said that “the best ability is reliability,” and that was true at Prep as November buzzed with excitement as students rallied to prove their attendance prowess! The recent conclusion of the Fall Attendance Competition revealed the Junior Class as the triumphant high school winners, as Ms. Spoelstra’s 8th-grade cohort won for the middle school, highlighting an unwavering commitment to showing up and just … being present.
“I felt really happy that the juniors won, because it shows how we are looking forward to coming to school every day,” said Prep junior Stephanie Bautista-Flores, echoing the sentiment of the winning side.
Both high school and middle school winners were thrilled to commemorate their efforts of showing up and working together, setting the bar high, and reminding us of the fun of just coming to school every day.
To honor this accomplishment, the winners were in for a delicious treat! Students participated in the joyous occasion of selecting multiple snacks during an assigned period, transforming their success into a sweet celebration. They also received a free dress-down day.
Prep Vice Principal Mr. Vargas said the competition was a success at raising awareness to issues with attendance early in the school year.
“We are proud of the students that won the first competition and we want to motivate students to attend school regularly, because ultimately every time a student is absent, they are missing valuable instruction,” said Mr. Vargas, emphasizing the significance of the victory and the broader impact on our school’s spirit.
Congratulations to the winners for their exceptional dedication, setting a shining example for all. As the year ends, the anticipation builds for the upcoming January attendance competition, offering fresh opportunities for other students to win.
