People are rhythming to the beat here at Passaic Preparatory Academy.

Anyone can join the Latin Dance Club at the Prep. Ms. Severino, overseer of the club, said she wanted to do something fun for students that wasn’t academically rigorous.

Ms. Severino said she has experience being in a Latin dance club.

“You don’t have to be an expert and there’s a lot of immediate improvement,” she said. “I’ve seen the group that already has joined grow so much, so if you want to have fun and you want to learn something new and experience dances from different cultures, then you should definitely join the Latin Dance Club!”

The club does not have any requirements needed to join, and it will not be in any competitions this school year. But maybe next year the club might host a show, said Ms. Severino.

The Latin Dance Club also has a couple of goals such as, having more people join, to learn new dances and have people to continue to grow and practice. The club hopes to have fundraisers to bring professionals from other dance styles to come and teach students, and to host a presentation.

The Latin Dance Club practices every Thursday, unless otherwise announced, and they try to change the focus every month.

Ms. Severino added that she enjoys getting to do something active.

The Latin Dance Club is one of the many clubs available at Passaic Preparatory Academy. Some of the other clubs include:

  • Student Council, which works on fixing school issues and raising funds for the school.
  • National History Day, where you can make a project of any historical event based on the year’s theme and have a chance to go to compete against other high schoolers from all over the state, maybe even the nation!
  • Youth Climate Activists, who help keep Passaic clean.
  • Newspaper Club, which oversees The Boulevard and The Boulevard Online and covers news, features, sports and more at Passaic Prep.

These are just a few of the many clubs at Passaic Preparatory Academy, and there is so much more!
