The City of Passaic Public Schools District will welcome a new school campus in September 2022, where School No. 17 used to be.

The Dayton Avenue Educational Complex is located on 90 Parker Boulevard. See our PHOTOS, above, and Passaic Preparatory Academy students can see live footage of the school being built here!

According to the district and the NJ School Development Authority, it is expected to be 448,000 square feet and a four-story campus that will hold four school facilities. These facilities are an early childhood center with 28 classrooms, an elementary school with 33 classrooms, a magnet school with 28 classrooms, and a middle school with 27 classrooms. They will share some facilities, such as food service and central plant operations. The campus is designed for students from Pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade.

Construction began Feb. 11, 2019. The schools are being built to combat overcrowding in the school district. The campus will educate approximately 2,760 students, with a maximum capacity of 3,022.

The projected project cost is $240.9 million. Gilbane Building Company of New Brunswick/EPIC Management Inc. of Piscataway is in charge of the project.

To build the schools, the City of Passaic Board of Education voted to demolish 33 Temporary Classroom Units that made up Passaic School No. 17 in 2017.

The Boulevard will continue to monitor and report these developments.
