Students from both the Passaic Academy of Science and Engineering (PASE) and Passaic Preparatory Academy went on a field trip to visit Congresswoman Nellie Pou’s office located in Paterson. Congresswoman Pou is an American politician who represents the 9th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. She made history by being the first Latina in Congress to have been elected from New Jersey.
Students on this visit went to represent Passaic and to find solutions regarding ICE activity in the area. Prior to this, a student address was held at PASE in April by both Prep and PASE students. Congresswoman Pou listened to each student’s presentation regarding Latino culture, along with the impact that ICE has had both mentally and academically on students across the city. Students were accompanied by Mr. Fitz and Ms. Noguera, both from PASE.
