Students from Passaic Preparatory Academy’s National Honor Society and Student Council put their leadership into action on Monday, March 30 during a special visit to School 20, bringing smiles, stories, and library resources to students in grades 2 through 7.
The visit was part of the LC3 (Library Community Connections) Crew, a district Educational Technology initiative focused on connecting schools without libraries or librarians to valuable reading resources.
During the visit, Prep students led engaging read‑aloud sessions, sharing stories with younger learners and sparking excitement around reading. In addition to storytelling, the LC3 Crew introduced students to digital library platforms such as TumbleBooks and Teen Book Reads, showing them how books and reading can be accessed anytime, anywhere … even online!
The trip was made possible with the support and supervision of Dr. Joanna Antoniou, Prep Library Media Specialist Mrs. Haley Scheerer, School 19 and School 6 Library Media Specialist Ms. Emily Griesbach, and Prep English teacher Mrs. Lauren Martin, who served as a chaperone to make sure that every Prep student who wanted to attend this trip could.
Experiences like this highlight the power of students helping students, and show how the LC3 Crew is making a meaningful impact by spreading literacy and connecting the district through shared resources: One story at a time.
