At Prep’s recent blood drive on Dec. 11, students and staff came together to support the New York Blood Center by donating blood to help save lives. The event took place during the school day and resulted in just under 50 successful donations; enough to potentially save nearly 200 people.
Organized by the National Honor Society, the blood drive aimed to support patients in need while encouraging community service and generosity. Students and staff participated by volunteering their time and courage to donate, showing compassion and responsibility.
Mr. Tereshko, who organized the blood drive, said the turnout was so strong, he wants to hold another Prep blood drive in the Spring.
“I’d first like to thank everybody who donated. Your blood will save up to four lives (each),” he said. “We had just under 50 donations, which can help almost 200 people. Our students and staff were brave and generous. We will be hosting another blood drive in the Spring and hope that we get twice as many donors in a few months. Thank you to the New York Blood Center for coming. I can’t be prouder of our National Honor Society and everybody involved.”
