The Passaic boys soccer team came out on top on Tuesday with a huge 2-1 win over Paterson Kennedy High School. Earlier this season, Passaic fell to Kennedy by the same score, but this time they got their revenge.
Sophomore Omar Perez delivered an unforgettable performance, scoring both of Passaic’s goals within one minute in the second half. Julio Gallardo set up the winning goal with a clean assist, helping Perez seal the win. With this victory, Passaic extends their hot streak to seven wins in a row and now holds a strong 8-2 record on the season.
This shows how much the team has improved since their first matchup with Kennedy. The boys showed teamwork, strength and the ability to step up when it mattered most.
Next up, the Indians will take the field on Friday night at 5:30 p.m. at Boverini Stadium, looking to keep their streak alive in front of their home crowd in the first round of the Passaic County Tournament against either 13th-seeded Passaic Valley or 12th-seeded Eastern Christian. Passaic is the fifth seed and could again face Kennedy, the fourth seed, if both teams reach the quarterfinals.
