It’s almost time for Donuts with Grownups!
The event, which has two sessions, morning and afternoon, sees student bringing their parents or guardians to Prep. Before they eat donuts, drink coffee and tea, they talk and spend quality time together away from home.
About 134 people are expected, and 150 donuts, 150 cookies and plenty of coffee and tea have been ordered for the event. More people are expected to attend in the morning than the afternoon.
The event will take place on Thursday, May 22, in the Media Center. The Prep Parent Committee came up with this idea in 2023 and it has been happening ever since. During the event, students and parents will do events and crafts like making jewelry, playing games like Jenga, Uno, etc. Families will fill out worksheets and play games that are expected to help both parents and students understand each other outside of school and work.
“This is an opportunity for parents and guardians to spend quality time with each other away from home,” said Prep Spanish teacher Ms. Reyes, a member of the Parent Committee, which organized the event. “I love how parents interact with their child and their friends and get to know each other a little bit more at these events. Families are an important aspect of the scholastic experience.”
