The winners of the Fall Attendance Competition have even more reason to celebrate as the holiday season envelops our school in joy and festive décor! The freshman class for our high school and Ms. Montoya’s 8th-graders for our middle school have been formally crowned champions.
As a reward for their efforts, all freshmen and Cohort 8-4 students received a dress-down ticket, allowing them to enjoy a free dress-down day of their choice after the holiday break. To add to the festivities, the top 20 percent of students in attendance across all grades received a free holiday snack. These special treats were picked up from Room 101 during assigned periods (4–8) on Friday, Dec. 20.
“Attendance is key to success, and Prep’s first attendance competition (of the year) aims to motivate and reward students for showing up daily and on time,” said Prep Vice Principal Mr. Vargas, highlighting the significance of this initiative and the necessity of attendance. “While we recognize every student faces challenges, we hope this initiative inspires unity and commitment to a shared goal of excellence.”
The victory was acknowledged by students even if they weren’t focused on the competition, according to a recent student survey.
“I didn’t think much about the attendance competition, but I’ll admit—it feels pretty good to win,” said Prep freshman Raul Gonzales. Even if students aren’t 100 percent paying attention to the competition, they still appreciate the win, he said. The triumph is as delicious to the freshmen class as the holiday sweets they received.
This challenge demonstrates that small incentives may have a significant impact on motivation. Students at Prep have demonstrated that attendance is important through dress-down days, rewards, and the satisfaction of a job well done.
Congratulations on your well-deserved win, freshmen and Cohort 8-4! We’re eager to see who wins the title again in the upcoming new year. Let’s enjoy this accomplishment and continue the spirit of hard work into the new year until then!
