Passaic has moved on in the Passaic County girls soccer tournament!
Passaic, the eighth seed, defeated rival Clifton, the ninth seed, 2-1 in the first round of the Passaic County Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Boverini Stadium.
The game was even in the beginning with a score of 0-0 at halftime. A goal in the second half from Lisa Garnelo gave the Indians the lead, but Clifton would equalize in the last five minutes. The game was forced into overtime and ultimately, in the first two minutes, Brenda Cuacuil would score the winner for the Indians. Both goals were assisted by Prep student Chastelyn Ruiz.
The team is now 5-3-1 and will face DePaul Catholic in the quarterfinals on Monday, Oct. 14 at DePaul Catholic in Wayne.
