It had been seven years, but on Friday, Sept. 13, the Passaic Indians football team beat the Clifton Mustangs, 14-5, at Joseph Grecco field in Clifton.
The rivalry had been one-sided for the longest time, with Clifton winning the last seven times the teams played. After being down 5-0 at halftime, the Indians came back and scored the final 14 points of the game, which left the team full of emotion.
The Indians were led by star running back No. 3 Justin Griffin with an outstanding performance with 31 carries for 200 yards, with his longest rush being 28 yards. On the defensive side, No. 8 Aasod Adams had two tackles and two interceptions, leading the team to victory. Prep sophomore Eddie Hidalgo was a standout for Passaic as a kick returner and back.
