“In my eyes, Washington, D.C. has always been a city full of opportunities and hope.  Every time I have gone, I have always left feeling empowered and hopeful for the future. What happened on Jan. 6 was terrifying to say the least, but I want all of us young people to look at the event in a certain light. We are the future of this county, and if we want anything to change, we are the ones that will bring that change. Abraham Lincoln once said “The best way to predict the future is to create it.” This is exactly what we have to do. We have to put our best foot forward, and help make sure this does not happen again. In a time where we face so much injustice, we are the light, and we will never stop fighting for what is just until we receive it. We are always united when we stand tall and pick each other up.”
